There are many people who deserve acknowledgement for their influence, support and contributions to my work and this website.
David Gorman stands out as the visionary, genius whose insights and teaching form the backbone of everything I do. I am honored to call him my mentor. There are no words of gratitude full enough to express my debt to whom for his guidance, generosity, and gifts in many forms.
Leon Thurman has also shaped the foundations of my teaching. He models a compassionate commitment to open mindedness, life long learning, kindness, rigor and endless curiosity. How can I thank you Leon for seeing something in me worth nurturing?
Elizabeth Garren is my: teacher, sister, friend, advisor, student, editor, mentor, and so much more. She has led my way for 25 years. Once again I stand speechless with gratitude for her depth of being. For always showing up.
I feel blessed with extraordinary teachers and colleagues over the years. From early dance years with Beth Channock got me going. Martha Myers, Collette Barry, and my fellow dancers at Connecticut College in the late 1970's gave me my foundation: David Dorfman, Joah Low, Jenny Wiles, Sat Hon, Betty Tsouprake, Polly Barnett thank you.
Alexander Technique formed the bridge between dance and my current work. Sherry Oliver, and my fellow students in her training got me started. Bruce Fertman, Barbara Conable gave inspiration along the way and Alice Pryor was a true mentor. I owe her so much in guiding me to teach groups and finish a sentence. Alice leads me to thank my collegues and teacher at VoiceCare Network: Pat Feit, John Cooksey, Liz Griefshiem and Axel Thiemer. You all gave me space to grow and develop and learn from each of you every year. What an honor.
My fellow trainees in LearningMethods what a journey we are on. Thank you Ben, Rebecca, Bonny, Mirriam, Kristen and everyone who came to our Minneapolis workshops.
The friends upon whose shoulders this work lives: Christine Wolf- another sister in this work, Andrew Dreyfus, Pam Hartman, Elise Bohaty, Amy and Terese, Juliet & Prescott, Michael and Jennifer, Vicky & Tim, Maggie and Hal and so many more. Thanks to Rick McMonagle who stood with me through many years of growth and learning. Jen Moir is a collegue and also a sister in the work. She keeps seeing what I have to offer and makes the connections to get the work out into the world.
I find myself once again at a loss for words when I think of the way my family has stood behind me, beside me, and before me as I travel my life. My parents were the inspiration to do work from the heart. My brothers were beacons as great teachers, creative spirits and true friends. Olivia and Aleda my daughters are the anchors of my present life. Suzanne has a trust in my skills and sees me in a way that lights my path. Their support, their challenges, their humor and above all their love is a deep well from which I draw. Thank you seems hardly enough.
Michelle Jwanouskos of ICBits made this website come to life with efficiency, dependability and creativity. It was a pleasure to work with her. I'd recommend ICBits to anyone for web design. Anna King took many beautiful pictures that grace these pages. I asked her about stones in water and she took the image and ran. Thanks Anna. Randee Paufve generously sent amazing pictures from her dance company. What a key old friend, fellow dancer, India buddy, and fellow searcher though movement.
More to come-out of time at this writing...
